We’re Still Here.
For many of us, our love of seniors began with helping an elderly family member or neighbor –
someone who was kind and represented the best of America: a veteran, a teacher, a
grandmother.
Caring for them brought purpose and meaning to our lives. We chose to work in senior care to
know our residents as people and to give them the dignity and respect they deserve. Through
the darkest days of the pandemic, we stayed with them. We missed our families. We risked our
lives.
We lost coworkers. We lost residents. We lost family members. Yet, we stayed. Our jobs are
physically and mentally exhausting, but we are still here to provide care that is essential to keep
our most vulnerable community members safe.
For us, the pandemic is not over.
We face daily challenges, intensified by the worst labor shortage of any industry in the country, with no end in sight. We are resilient, but we are not recovered. Help us raise a voice for the help we most desperately need.
